HIV/AIDS

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is a virus that damages the cells in the immune system and weakens the ability to fight everyday infections and diseases.

AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome) is the name used to describe a number of potentially life-threatening infections and illnesses that happen when the immune system has been severely damaged by the HIV virus.

While these conditions are not necessarily life-threatening they do have to be managed so caring for a loved one with one of these conditions can be challenging. There are however sources of information out there that can be accessed.
