Cath Wilson

Chair

My name is Cath Wilson, Chair of Trustees for Carers Wakefield & District.

I began volunteering with Carers Wakefield & District when I retired in 2019 after 28 years of working in General Practice, the last 19 years as the Practice Manager of a large GP practice.  I wanted to give a little of my time to help out in a small way after years of working in a healthcare setting.

I witnessed first hand how difficult it was for unpaid carers trying to juggle their responsibilities with work and families and the toll it took on peoples health, both mental and physical.

I have also cared for loved ones with dementia and mental health issues and know how difficult this can be.

I am extremely proud to be associated with Carers Wakefield & District and of the wonderful support they provide to the many unpaid carers in our locality and the difference this support can make.

My role as Chair is to lead the team of Trustees to ensure the charity fulfills its responsibilities with regard to Governance and to work in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer to achieve the charity’s aims and objectives.

My name is Grant, Vice Chair, my journey as a carer for my wife over the past 17 years has been filled with countless moments of growth, learning, and love.

In my role as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees and volunteer for Carers Wakefield & District, I am humbled to be part of an organisation that shares my passion for providing help and resources to carers in our community.  Working as a volunteer alongside other dedicated individuals who are committed to this cause has been an inspiring experience, and I am proud of the positive impact we’ve made in the lives of carers and their loved ones.

Being a part of Carers Wakefield & District has allowed me to channel my personal experiences as a carer into meaningful action.  I am honoured to contribute to an organisation that advocates for the rights and well-being of carers, while also providing a sense of community and understanding that can be life-changing for those who walk this path.

As I look to the future, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities I’ve been given and the incredible individuals I’ve had the privilege of working with.  My journey as a carer has been challenging and rewarding, and I am proud to stand alongside others who share this commitment to compassion, empathy, and support.  Together, we can continue making a difference in the lives of carers and those they care for, and I am eager to see the impact we will make in the years to come.

Hello, my name is Paula. I’m a Mum, Mental Health Nurse, and the Deputy Director for Patient Experience and Public Involvement at RDaSH NHS.  Having worked in the NHS since 1997, and cared for loved ones myself, I am delighted to join the Board of Trustees to support Carers Wakefield.
