Digital Inclusion

Digital Inclusion Project for Carers - Helping Carers Get Confident Online

A project focused on helping unpaid carers build digital skills and feel more confident using technology in their daily lives.

This project is funded by the ‘Government’s Accelerated Reform Fund (ARF)’, and it exists because we know many carers can feel left behind when it comes to the digital world.  Whether it’s keeping in touch with friends and family, managing appointments online, or accessing essential services – being able to do things digitally can make a real difference to both the carer and the person they care for.

Do you want to increase your skills and knowledge? We're here to help make that easier.

Over the course of the project, we’ll be offering one-to-one support, small group workshops, and friendly guidance to help carers:

  • Learn how to use smartphones, tablets or laptops.
  • Get to grips with things like online shopping, video calls, and using email.
  • Stay safe online.
  • Access useful websites, apps, and local services that could support their caring role.

We’ll also be able to offer a small number of devices for loan or gifting, along with free SIM cards for data, to help carers who may not have access to the internet at home.

This support is tailored to each individual – we’ll start with a friendly chat to see what you’d like help with, and go at your pace.

We believe that digital confidence can open up new opportunities to stay connected, reduce isolation, and make life a little bit easier for carers across the Wakefield District.

If you are a carer, or know a carer living in the Wakefield District who would like to build digital confidence, we’d love to hear from you.  Whether you’d prefer a one-to-one chat or want to join a friendly group session, we’re here to help.

Keep an eye out for upcoming activities and workshops – or get in touch to find out how we can support you.  If you would like more information, please call 01924 305544.
