This support can be offered via the telephone, at our office or at some other mutually arranged venue. Home visits can be made if it is difficult for the carer to get out.
Our team can support any adult carer regardless of the amount of time spent caring or the nature of the condition of the person that they care for. The support workers are happy to speak to people who are at the early stages of caring and help them prepare for their caring role. Equally they can support people who are moving on when their caring role has changed or ended.
Each support worker is attached to one of the multidisciplinary Integrated Network Teams that work in each of the 13 localities across the Wakefield Metropolitan District. So, wherever you live you can contact a carer support worker who knows your area, knows the services and activities in that area and has regular contact with many of the other professionals working in your community.
